Community Projects

Just Be You has a long track record of community and participatory creative work — memorial projects, time capsules, friendship interventions, creative placemaking, and collaborative artwork with housing associations, construction companies, and community organisations across Wales. This is the work that happens in a place, with the people who live there, and leaves something behind.

What this work is

Community and participatory projects are the most varied part of what Just Be You does. No two are the same. The starting point is always the community — the people, the place, the occasion, the need — and the project is designed around that.

Projects have included:
- Memorial projects — creating lasting, meaningful objects or artwork to mark a loss within a community. This has included a commissioned memorial for the late caretaker of St David's Church of Wales Primary School, Cardiff.
- Time capsule projects — collaborative making that captures a moment in a community's life
- Friendship interventions — structured creative programmes designed to build connection between people who might not otherwise have it
- Creative placemaking — working with new housing developments and construction projects to bring creative, community-rooted work into the development process
- Collaborative artwork — large-scale pieces made with and by a community, where the process of making together is as important as the finished work

Organisations we've worked with

- Linc Cymru Housing Association
- Willis Construction
- Codi Group
- Ministry of Sound, Pentwyn Youths
- St David's Church of Wales Primary School, Cardiff

This is creative work that takes place in the world, with real people, in real places — and it leaves something behind. Every project is different, every community has its own needs, and every piece of work is designed around that.
